Inside MK

Mountain Khakis® is committed to the best practices of sustainability and environmentalism, from sourcing materials to production to operations.  MK recycles everything; including paper, cardboard, cups, chewing gum, hamster bedding, Q-tips®, leftover cereal milk, tissues, candle wax, Jesse Browns' employees and much more.  Mountain Khakis® promotes a balanced, outdoor lifestyle and encourages kids - young and old - to play outdoors!

MK Partnerships

Mountain Khakis® is actively involved with environmental and community-based non-profit organizations, partnering with them to propel their mission, support their goals, and make our world a better place for future generations.  It is our goal to establish long-term partnerships with organizations that reflect similar ethics, standards and objectives as ours... partnerships that seek to explore, harness and protect the diverse, core, grassroots values of the outdoor lifestyle, and support the communities in which MK is present.

Each year, the MK Family rallies to consider the many organizations we wish to support.  To date, we've proudly supported countless org's and benefit events through donations and in-kind contributions.  Among them are:

Snake River Fund
The Snake River is one of our favorite places to play. In the winter we skate ski along the banks, and in the summer we are addicted to the sublime fishing. We thoroughly support the mission of The Snake River Fund to promote stewardship and recreational access to the river, and educational outreach campaigns like their annual "Summit on the Snake."

Catawba Lands Conservancy
Our second office in Charlotte, NC is home to our founding partners and additional staff, all of whom seek out and support a healthy outdoor way of life. This land trust focuses on the permanent protection of land, water and wildlife habitat along Lower Catawba River Basin and adjacent lands.

The Access Fund
The Access Fund is a national advocacy organization dedicated to balancing access to and conservation of the climbing environment. It made our list because both our company and our customer base include recreational climbers who have found that our durable fabrics, diamond gusset and quality construction produce a fantastic climbing pant.

Grand Teton National Park Foundation
The ways we recreate in GTNP are nearly endless - biking before the roads open in the spring... boating and hiking in the summer, listening to elk bugle in the fall and backcountry skiing in the winter. The Foundation’s Youth Conservation Program combines two of our favorite efforts, hands-on stewardship and youth education. In addition to a financial contribution we outfitted the YCP teens in Mountain Khakis, pants they found were perfect for trail-building, weed pulling and installing bear-proof containers.

The Conservation Alliance
We do our best to stay informed on all of the grassroots organizations making a difference in our industry, but the Conservation Alliance does it better. This non-profit disperses donations from its outdoor industry members to grassroots environmental organizations, focusing on community-based campaigns to protect threatened wild habitat in places where outdoor enthusiasts recreate. Through them, we have contributed to wilderness preservation in the Rockies and New England, and have helped protect over 1 million acres of wilderness in 2006.

The American Alpine Club
Generations of climbers have benefited from the work of the AAC. Join today to get global rescue service, the American Alpine Journal, Accidents in North American Mountaineering, hut discounts, and more. Membership also supports the country's largest grants program for climbers, as well as vital conservation and advocacy initiatives that protect the places we climb. Discover the AAC for yourself at one of their events, like the annual Craggin' Classic.
