    • Utility, indeed!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • My Alpine Utility Shorts were used while stream fishing, fly fishing, hiking, working around the house, and lounging while enjoying some cold brews. While fishing, I use the shorts for carrying and stowing fishing gear or food bars (If I am keeping fish to fillet, I use the belt loops to tie my stringer of fish to. I have no worries of the belt loops breaking or pulling off due to the toughness of the material.) Hiking pretty much sees me using the shorts to carry small gear or food items. The toughness of the material and solid construction of the parts lend themselves to using the shorts hard, i.e. sitting on rocks and brushing up against tree, without the worry of the material ripping or wearing thin prematurely. While working around the house doing odd jobs and predominantly taking care of landscaping, these shorts are my go to pair in the summer. I can carry small tools in the pockets and not have to worry about ripping the material. I have used them while moving landscaping stones with the stones resting against the material without so much as a blemish on the shorts. I wear them while lounging at the end of a long day’s fishing or hiking or after a hard day’s work while I am enjoying some cold brews because, hey, they look and feel great – they’re functional and fashionable! The great thing is they can go from outdoor use to the local bar with seamless transfer. “Utility” is very applicable to these shorts.

    • Solid shorts - a staple in my closet
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • After beating a couple pairs of old discount cargo shorts into tattered remains, I hunted around for a pair of replacement shorts for quite a while before settling upon the Alpine Utility Shorts. Bottom line, I've been pleased with the combination of comfort and durability in one pair of shorts, and I wear them as often as I can. The fabric is heavy and a little stiff at first, but it softens up and stretches ever so slightly to give a very comfortable fit. After a wash they snug back up again, but are quickly return to their comfortable state after a wear or two. The 11" inseam is a good length for protecting the thighs when going through brush, but not so long that it restricts mobility. My lone gripe is the velcro on the back pockets: the upper seams on both of the "hook" velcro patches either tore through or came out, but either way, the patches were no longer sturdily sewn to the shorts. Thankfully the functionality wasn't affected too much - the pockets still stick closed alright - but it was a surprising thing to discover so early in the life of an otherwise quality piece of clothing. However, assuming this was a fluke, I definitely look forward to my next pair of MKs!

    • Hire me Mountain Khakis
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • Listen, I've spent years trying to find the right Khakis - Ralph Lauren, Columbia, Dockers! Uggggggggg! Mountain Khakis are without question, no doubt, the best Khakis made in the world. I am a Coach and have traveled all over the United States. My Job is to know quality and talent. These pants and shorts are MVP's. These Pants and shorts get better when worn for days on end!! The Alpine short you must buy 1 size up. I wear a 38 in my MK Alpine Utility Shorts but this model requires a 40. Not a problem fits perfect. The 11" inseam length is perfect. Original Mountain Pants are true to size! Listen, if you doubt how they might fit buy one size up or down and then send the ones that don't fit to your liking back. You will then have the perfect khakis for a very long time. I have three pair of Original Mountain Pants, 1 pair of Teton Twill Shorts (38x10) - PERFECT!!!! Next purchase, Alpine Utility Pants in Yellowstone. That simple fellas! If you wear any other khaki brand and think they are the best then you are a complete wardrobe stiff. GO MK!!!! Thank you for being the World's BEST! <><

    • Alpine Utility Shorts
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • Talk about wanting a pair of shorts that feel tough and at the same time protecting you from natures rough spots; while enjoying the great feeling of being outdoors. The Mountain Khakis alpine utility shorts will do just that. Just imagine the alpine utility pants but just cut into a summer version. Amazingly Awesome! I have been wearing my pair of utility shorts for a few months now and they are by far the toughest shorts I have ever encountered. They are great for hikes in the alps of blowing rock and still very classy for a casual day at work. I utilities the side pocket quite a bit to stow away my phone and or wallet. If you are looking for an all around pair of shorts that will handle the outdoors, then the Alpine Utility Shorts are just for you!

    • When it's too hot for pants...
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • My MK Alpine Utility shorts are awesome. About the time I began taking the 5th pocket in my Original Mountain Pants for granted, summer came around and it became shorts season. I missed that extra front pocket...until I discovered that MK also made shorts with a cut almost identical to the pants. The shorts are just as durable and as comfortable as the pants. Being 6' 5", my shorts always seem to run a bit, well, short. I was thrilled to see that MK offers their shorts in 3 different inseams and immediately ordered a pair of the 34x11 Alpine Utility Shorts. Despite the fact that they've got the longest inseam, I still often find myself trying to sag the shorts to get a little more length. Despite that fact, I still love the shorts.

    • Survived the burning ring of fire
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • Well maybe not a ring of fire...but I put these through the ringer every day last summer. Just like a pair of MK pants, they play tough and work hard, yet still manage to outlast any pair of shorts I own. The waist sits a little high if you order true to size, otherwise just order a bit larger. My only complaint is that color faded in the sea but this is probably due to sitting and sliding in the dirt, my bad. My only wish, no velcro on the rear pockets. But, nothing a pocketknife can't solve. Thanks MK, I will be ordering more for this next summer!

    • To Mountain Khakis

I love these shorts because it reminds me being outside exploring and hiking in the redwoods and the color matches the outdoor settings. My Brother and Brother in law have these and when I saw it on them I said I had to get them.

When I found out that Mountain Khakis came from Jackson Hole, Wyoming I had to get these because I went on vacation to Jackson Hole, Wyoming two years ago. So for now on I will be purchasing my clothes here.

      Thank you,

      Jon W

    • Tough Enough
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I'm a big guy thats hard on clothes. Typically I wear holes in a pair of shorts in 3-6 months. Pockest start to tear and I get holes from branch snags. I picked up a pair of these Mountain Kahkis at the Overland Expo and they are by far the best built, toughest pair of shorts I have. If your going to be crawling in the dirt, jumping up and down off your rig, or doing any outdoor activity I would recomend you get a few pairs...you will have them for a while!

    • Toughest shorts ever!
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • These are great shorts! I have two pairs and I wear them constantly. Super tough fabric that can take a beating. I got my first pair over a year ago and they're just getting more comfortable with time and aside from a small grease stain they look as good as new. The Granite color is more blue than gray to me. Also, for the price I would have expected these shorts to be made in the USA, not in Vietnam.

    • Super durable & versitle!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I have 3 pairs of these shorts, and wear them under waders, on the river, skating, and out and about. Very confortable, versitle, and durable. They work well for several hours on the river (under waders) and haven't torn while skating parks or bombing downhill.

Don't flinch at the price, as if you don't have a pair, these will easily become your new favorite now matter what your age or sports are.

    • Great durable summer shorts
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I bought a pair of these shorts as I wanted something a little more rugged and durable. I only bought one pair to try them out and see if the claims matched up with the product. I got the 7" in granite. I liked these so much I bought two more pairs in ranch and freestone. If you are looking for high quality durable shorts don't stop at just one pair. Take my word for it and just order 3 pairs.

    • I may have to marry these!!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I am so excited for summer!! These are going to be awesome on the river. I am very happy its been warm so I can enjoy them now. I love the fact that for the first time i can choose my inseam on shorts. Same toughness as the alpine utillity pants. And i love the back velcro pockets, and the open wallet pocket. Just when i think it cant get better this company always seems to rise above it!!

    • Good tough shorts!!
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • I wear these to work during the warm months. They offer the same toughness as the pants. There are a couple of changes I would make however; actually only one. I would get rid of the velcro on the back pockets and use an internal snap of some sort. As with all velcro, over time the hook and loops simply lose there traction. Other than that these things are perfect! Great job

    • Great Short
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • As always, a great fitting short. Durable fabric, good looking, but if I had to say anything about them, I'd maybe remove the velcro from the back right outer pocket, or make the inner back right pocket a little bigger to fit a wallet in easier. Other than that, great shorts.
