Field Report: "I was wondering around for a few days on the flats of Urethra, Bahamas fly fishing for bonefish and found my Snake River [Convertibles] were great for protecting me from the sun. They are light, comfortable, have plenty of pockets that can be zipped closed, and allow for the legs to easily be removed. I will bring them with me again the next time I hit the flats." -R. • Bought the shorts - HAD to buy these pants!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • These are PERFECT for the "travel light" kind of person. Pants, shorts, quick dry, quick change! I love the weight of the fabric - not too heavy, not too light. They are my favorites for weekends at the cabin, or for outdoorsy travel. Not quite "dressy" enough for business casual, but hey...give it a try anyway! I work at home, and they are what I reach for in the spring and fall when the days start cooler and end warmer! Similar in waist size to all MK pants/shorts, so order accordingly.

    • Fly Fishing essential
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • The Granite Creek Convertible is basically the only piece of clothing I have to bring on my Northern New Mexico fly fishing trips. In the morning when it's a little cooler I've got the pants on and once it warms up, it's wet wading in the shorts. When I get back to camp zip the legs back on for the cool nights. They dry super quick. Very durable. My favorite things are the true to fit waistband and reinforced heel. Essential to any fly fisherman's kit.

    • The very Best Climbing, Hiking, Camping, Work Pants EVER!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • Mountain Khakis hands down, are the best comfort and durability of any pant I've ever tried. Especially the Mountain Khakis Granite Creek Convertable which should be the STANDARD for outdoor use and ease of packing away of any Men's pant available. The best part is they are cool in the summer and warm enough in the winter to wear for any situation. But in the heat of the Summer Sun, this pant won't make you sweat or overheat your package, so you'll never want to take them off; except maybe when a skinny dip is absolutely nessasary.

    • Great pants, but a couple of things bug me
    • 4 out of 5 Bison
    • These pants are awesome, except for two changes that would make them perfect. 1. They only have one rear pocket and it is on the right. I carry my wallet in my left pocket. It's a little "different". 2. The shorts are shorter than most of today's styles, and if you have long legs like mine, they seem even shorter. They look great in the pictures, but are several inches above the knee for me. I am not saying I won't wear them, but the vast percentage of the time will be the long pants version so my kids won't pick on me about my short shorts.

    • The Best Field Pants I've Found for a Traveling Biologist
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I just returned from a month's backpacking in Thailand and New Zealand. I took only two pairs of pants on the trip that I washed as needed in the evenings, and air-dried overnight. After exhaustive review of every pant brand and model that I could find with zip-off lower legs, I chose Mountain Khakis Granite Creek Convertible Pant. The two countries have vastly different temperature and weather patterns, but the Granite Creek pants were comfortable in both countries. From experience with the Original Mountain Pant, which I use for biological field surveys, I knew that Mountain Khaki pants were VERY well constructed. Granite Creek pants have hidden zippered pockets for carrying wallet and passport in the city. The leg zippers never failed, and the pants ability to dry overnight meant that I could keep them clean for meetings. I found the material resistant to stains, as well. After a month of hard wear, the pants are in great shape. If you are looking for the best travel pants for outdoor activities in hot to moderate climates, you will not be disappointed! Mountain khakis design staff... please leave the design of these pants alone, and don't change a thing!

    • Awesome performance!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I put this product through some rough terrain - I live in the panhandle of Florida and we have had some muggy, hot, rainy weather lately. I took the Convertibles out on a 2 night paddle on the river and they performed amazing. They kept the bugs at bay when needed and zipped off quick and easy while standing on a paddle board when the sun was pounding down! When I wore these out to the Board Shop and around town they were comfortable and looked great; everyone loved them!

    • MUST BUY!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I am wearing these all summer long! Great for chilly mornings; then when it gets warm, just unzip on the go. I hardly miss a step when I'm going to shorts mode. They dry super fast. I say get no less than two pair of these. The mushroom color so far is my favorite. I LOVE THESE PANTS! You will never regret owning these pants. MK always rises above it!

    • Rough in New Zealand
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • MK came through for a day of backcountry fly fishing in New Zealand with a pair of these. They are incredible! Weightless yet durable. Quick dry keeps you warm while wet wading. Best pair of pants that I have ever owned hands down.

    • Great Pants
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • I am pretty particular with my gear and clothing while traveling. I lived in the MK Granite Creek Convt pant for 6 weeks this summer. They worked flawlessly. A bit pricy but if you have to have one pair, these are the real deal. Fit is true to size and with constant use there was no indication of failure anywhere.

    • The pant you can wear anywhere!
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • If there was ever a pant you would feel comfortable sleeping in, this would be it. Everything is true to size and feels absolutely great, even after a long day on the trail. They are also perfect for the office! They breath very well and being able to convert to shorts when needed is the icing on the cake. I hope to get more in other colors in the near future.

    • Awesome travel pants
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • The Granite Creek Convertibles are GREAT pants for travel, and super versatile. The fabric is a little thicker and tougher than most synthetic zip-offs, suiting them for a wide temperature range, and making them very durable.

The shorts run above the knee, so more of a classic style than surf shorts. The zippers below the knee are even color coded, making it very easy to pick which one to reattach each lower leg to once unzipped. The ankle zipper makes it easy to get them off over boots.

Great summer pants to wear wet wading with a fly rod too. Zip off the legs when you get in the water, and they'll be dry to put back on when you're done and headed for the pub :)

    • Love these pants
    • 5 out of 5 Bison
    • got fed up with coaching sports in sweat pants and never having any place to put stuff, or hiking and wishing I had worn shorts after the sun came up or wearing shorts on a hot day through heavy brush and trashing my knees. These pants fix all that, look good and probably fill two or more needs I have not thought of yet. Oh yeah, they don't weight anything either.
