International Women's Day

International women's day

On Tuesday, March 8th, Mountain Khakis partnered with several local businesses who care as much as we do about International Women's Day. Together we launched RECAPTURE, a short film highlighting the work of landscape photographer Laurie R. Martin on her journey through the Blue Ridge mountains and Yellowstone National Park. Produced by local film company SPIRACLE, we were excited to sponsor the premiere event and even more stoked to have Laurie wear multiple Mountain Khakis outerwear styles on her outdoor ventures.

March 8th also marked the annual celebration of International Women’s Day, the perfect tie-in to focus on Laurie’s groundbreaking work as a female photographer pursuing remote outdoor places. At Mountain Khakis, we also pride ourselves on our predominantly female staff – did you know that 70% of Mountain Khakis employees are women? Our leadership team is 80% female, our warehouse is operated by women, and all of our product is designed and technically fit by women.

Watch the full film below.

Hosted at local retailer Jesse Brown’s Outdoors, a staple of the outdoor community in Charlotte, NC, the event drew a large crowd eager to view the culmination of Laurie’s work and learn more about her landscape photography career. RECAPTURE highlights Laurie’s quest to preserve memories through her photographs, and the film captured her fond recollections of time spent with her father and his impact on her love of the outdoors – ultimately fueling her landscape photography career and interest in pursuing difficult-to-access places to capture wintery scenes, local wildlife, and more..

We’re grateful to other community partners who came together to make the night a success: The Artisan’s Palate, who provided catering for the event, and Great Wagon Road Distillery, who kicked off the evening with an open bar featuring four of their signature craft cocktails. Both of these local NoDa establishments are well worth the visit when you find yourself in the Charlotte area and we’re thrilled they were able to partner with us to make this event a night to remember.
