Strange hips to the “modern fit”

I like the pant but the “modern fit” hips have strange flare-outs on both sides that don’t match up with what I think would be a typical men’s shape. It’s unfortunate as I like the color and everything else. I’ll be returning these. Unfortunately there is no option to say it has a modern fit.

Solid pants that just didn't fit

First the good. These are quality pants with a nice thick material and the color was a nice earthy brown/grey. My issue was with the fit. I'm a slim guy at 5'8" and 140 lbs and normally wear a size 28 waist. The size 28 I purchased was way too large in the waist and rather baggy overall. I was hoping for more of a slim fit for an everyday pant, but this wasn't the case at least for me.
